A Little Rain, a Tornado Warning, and Memories Worth Chasing
Some sessions are memorable because of the photos. Others are memorable because of the story behind them.
This family of six proved that a little unpredictable Nebraska weather wasn’t going to keep us from capturing this season of their lives. We spent most of their session enjoying calm skies, beautiful light, and all the laughter and connection that make family sessions so special.
It wasn’t until near the very end of our time together that a tornado warning rolled through the area. We quickly kept an eye on the weather and wrapped things up safely, but not before we had already captured all the amazing images we set out to create.
Thankfully, the timing worked in our favor.
Earlier in the session, we were treated to soft light, dramatic clouds building in the distance, and the kind of atmosphere that makes Nebraska skies so unforgettable. The kids embraced the adventure from start to finish, the parents laughed through the changing weather, and together we created images that tell the story of a family that knows how to make the best of any situation.
One of my favorite things about photographing larger families is watching each personality shine. Between the playful sibling moments, genuine laughter, and sweet hugs, there were countless reminders that the best family photos aren’t about perfect conditions—they’re about real connections.
This session is proof that sometimes the most unforgettable memories come from the days that don’t go according to plan. Even with a tornado warning at the very end, we still walked away with a full gallery of beautiful, meaningful images.
To this wonderful family—thank you for trusting me, embracing the adventure, and showing that a little weather is no match for love, laughter, and time spent together.
